Sabi Kids

I loved the old Keedo store on Anderson. When I read that a new Keedo store opened in Jester Village I loaded up the minivan and high-tailed it over there! The clothes are 50% off right now (about $20 an outfit). The store is Sabi Kids--www.sabikids.com. I don't think the website does justice to the cuteness of their clothes, plus Keedo sizes are all over the place, so you really need to go in and have your kids try the clothes on. They are closed Sun and Mon and don't open until 11 am most days.

Austin, Texas–Scottish Rite Children's Theatre presents a new musical production of The Frog Prince. Written by D. H. Thompson, Directed and Music Directed by Michael McKelvey, this adaptation of the classic Brother’s Grimm tale teaches the lesson of being true to your word. The interactive play is peppered with delightful, original songs and music and is perfect for ages 3-9, though adults will appreciate the slapstick humor too!
Synopsis: Princess Abigail is simply a spoiled brat with no concern for anyone but herself. But with the help of a cunning frog with a very special secret, Abigail will learn how to be a true Princess! The Frog Prince features original songs and music, and a special guest star–Penelope the Party Pooper (children will remember her as the bitter fairy from SRCT’s Sleeping Beauty).
The play features talented Austin actors Sean Martin (The Frog Prince), Jennymarie Jemison (Princess Abigail), Andrea Smith (Penelope the Party Pooper) and Jose Villarreal as Prince Francis and The King. With delightful costumes by Rita Kelso, the Frog Prince is another kid-pleasing addition to the Scottish Rite Children's Theatre repertoire. The show is adeptly handled by the crew: Alex Soto, Joshua Keeling, the play's author Heath Thompson, and Company Manager Gwen Kelso.
About SRCT Since 2004, Scottish Rite Community and Children's Theatre, Inc. a 501 (C) (3), has been providing year-round, quality, fun and affordable family entertainment, perfect for children ages 3-9. Midnight tonight--Michael Jackson tribute

If any of you were crushin on Michael Jackson in 7th grade, tonight is your night at the Alamo Drafthouse.

Michael Jackson Tribute Sing-AlongMidnight tonight at the Alamo RitzAlamo creative director Henri Mazza has been doing Michael Jackson Sing-Alongs for years now- not out of irony or spite, but from true respect and admiration for an artist many had written off. Henri was even the mastermind behind the record-breaking Thriller Dance where nearly 900 Thriller-trained dancers showed to smash the previous record, as well as the Dia de Los Muertos Thriller parade. Jackson's music has the power to unite the world in one big beautiful dance party, Henri knows this and the Michael Jackson Sing-Along is proof. While we mourn the loss of Michael Jackson, a silent vigil doesn't feel quite right for a man so steeped in the extreme. Instead, come join Henri tonight to celebrate the life of an American legend.Only $5. We love you MJ.

Fun Wednesday night outing

Thanks to Austin Kidbits for this:

If the thought of packing up your whole kitchen for a dinner outdoors sounds like more trouble than it’s worth, then grab your blanket and head to the Austin Farmer’s Market at The Triangle.
Shop for local, delicious, ready-made foods, or get take-out from one of The Triangle eateries. The kids can cool off in the sprinkler fountains while you relax on the lawn listening to live music.
This family outing is far from a rip-off.

Open Wednesday nights from 4 – 8 p.m.
